Pre-Conference
Workshops
20:20 | Networking Free
20:20 is a fast-paced presentation format
whereby presenters are allotted 20 slide
show images, which are shown for 20 seconds
each. The total presentation time is therefore
only 6 minutes and 40 seconds per person.
This workshop will explore the ideas behind
20:20 and how it can be applied to your
community. There will also be a participatory
segment where actual 20:20 presentations
will be given by attendees to both demonstrate
the program and provide a chance for museum
representatives to discuss their ideas and
accomplishments.
Connection to Collections
in Difficult Times: A Helping Hands Workshop
Free
The Institute for Museum and Library Services
(IMLS) Connecting to Collections initiative
has funded grants to both Colorado and Wyoming.
Based on Colorado’s C2C survey results
concerning the most urgent needs of cultural
heritage institutions, there will be a FREE
day long pre-conference workshop that will
cover: curatorial decision-making; Collection
policy development; the ethics of de-accessioning;
working with your local communities; and,
low-cost/no-cost climate control improvements.
The last part of the workshop will include
a walk through assessment of the museum
with opportunities for hands on exercises
using examples from the collections at the
Nici Self.
